Greek Yogurt Cinnamon Roll Bowl - A Cozy, High-Protein Breakfast

Prep Time 10 minutes
Total Time 10 minutes
Servings: 1 servings

Ingredients

  • Plain Greek yogurt (2% or 5% for best creaminess; use nonfat if preferred)
  • Cream cheese (regular or light; can use dairy-free)
  • Maple syrup or honey (or a zero-calorie sweetener)
  • Vanilla extract
  • Ground cinnamon
  • Brown sugar or coconut sugar (optional but classic)
  • Nut butter (optional; almond, cashew, or peanut for richness)
  • Milk (just a splash to loosen the glaze; dairy or non-dairy)
  • A pinch of salt (to balance sweetness)
  • Optional toppings: chopped pecans or walnuts, raisins, granola, banana slices, a dusting of cinnamon, or a drizzle of maple syrup

Method

  1. Prep the base: In a bowl, add 3/4 to 1 cup of plain Greek yogurt. Stir until smooth and creamy.
  2. Sweeten lightly: Mix in 1 to 2 teaspoons maple syrup or honey and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract. Taste and adjust. You want it lightly sweet—remember the glaze adds more.
  3. Make the cinnamon swirl: In a small cup, combine 1 teaspoon cinnamon with 1 to 2 teaspoons brown sugar (or your preferred sweetener) and a pinch of salt. If you like, stir in 1 teaspoon melted nut butter for a richer, “buttery” cinnamon roll note.
  4. Stir and swirl: Spoon half the yogurt into a serving bowl. Sprinkle on half the cinnamon mixture. Add the remaining yogurt, then the rest of the cinnamon mixture. Use a knife or spoon to create gentle swirls.
  5. Whip the glaze: In a separate small bowl, beat 1 to 2 tablespoons softened cream cheese with 1 to 2 teaspoons maple syrup and a splash of milk until pourable. Add a tiny pinch of salt and a drop more vanilla if you like. It should look like thin frosting.
  6. Drizzle generously: Pour the cream cheese glaze over the top. Let it drip into the swirls for that cinnamon-roll look.
  7. Add crunch and fruit: Top with chopped pecans or walnuts, a few raisins or banana slices, or a small handful of granola. These layers add texture and a bakery-style finish.
  8. Final touch: Dust with a bit more cinnamon and a tiny drizzle of maple syrup if you want extra sweetness.
  9. Serve right away: Grab a spoon and enjoy the creamy, spiced layers.
